There must be a time when you feel so fed up with the so many unused plastic containers at home. Rather than throwing them away and let them fill the landfill waiting for some hundred years to degrade themselves, why not reuse them for something useful? Perhaps decorate them so that they're more pleasant-looking? Whether these are plastic buckets, once-food containers, or soda bottles, we can change them into great house decoration and containers at the same time. Read on to know how to do it.
This container decorating project will involve some painting activity to make them stand out. Therefore, the containers need to be cleaned properly. Remove all labels with eco-friendly product or just use solution of baking soda (or vinegar) and water for labels that are hard to take out. This will also remove previous odors from the containers.
It's time to give the containers some color. Paint or spray them with the paint of your choice and get another coat if necessary. Allow at least two hours before adding the second coat for the first one to dry.
Add some textures to the paint
You could be happy already with the painted containers by now. But you could also add more sparks onto the design. What about polka dot, striped or hand-painted textures? Simply use round sponge to make the polka dot, or draw guide lines for the striped pattern, or paint small trees, flowers or anything you like on the containers.
Let everything dry and use the containers to keep stationary, children toys, shoes, etc. You can put them on the floor or make holes on them and hang them on the wall. The kids will love them too if you choose brighter colors! Happy decorating.
