Here is a very interesting video on how to make chicken waterers out of 5 gallon bucket. The keyword in this DIY project is airtight. That prevents water to overflow. For that, you will need an accompanying good lid for the 5 gallon pail. Or a better idea would be to do the second method that Ric Steel showed (drilling holes at the bottom of the bucket), fill in the bucket with water and close with Gamma Seal Bucket lid to ensure the airtightness.

Try it and you'll enjoy the absence of feeding your chicken ever too often.

Ric Steel hosts a DIY segment that shows anyone how to make cheap chicken waterers at home from a pan and a 5 gallon bucket. CAUTION: Please make sure that the holes are not big enough for a chicken to poke their little heads into and get hurt. Also DO NOT use the waterer when chickens are to small to stand in the water without getting drowned. This is for more mature chickens only. Ric is a cruise ship entertainer and writer that just loves hosting on camera. If you have a project that you would like him to host please contact him through this video by leaving a comment.
